Woman Gives Birth to Baby Girl at Bhubaneswar Railway Station, RPF Steps In to Help

Bhubaneswar, Oct 3: A woman travelling on the Bangiriposi-Puri Express gave birth to a baby girl on the platform of Bhubaneswar Railway Station on Saturday after she went into labour during the journey. Timely intervention by Railway Protection Force (RPF) personnel and members of the ‘Meri Saheli’ initiative ensured the safe delivery of the child.
According to railway officials, the woman experienced labour pain while travelling on the train. When the train arrived at Platform No. 4 of Bhubaneswar Railway Station, her condition required immediate medical attention.
RPF officials and the women members of the ‘Meri Saheli’ team promptly came to her assistance. To ensure privacy and dignity, the team quickly created a temporary enclosure around the woman using cloth sheets on the platform.
With the support of RPF women personnel and railway staff, the woman safely delivered a baby girl on the platform itself. The coordinated response helped manage the emergency situation until further medical assistance could be arranged.

✨Following the delivery, the RPF arranged transportation for both the mother and the newborn and shifted them to Capital Hospital in Bhubaneswar for medical care. Doctors admitted the two for observation and treatment.
Hospital sources said both the mother and the infant are
currently stable and in good health.
