The next morning, on September 30, Das succumbed to his injuries inside the hospital premises. His wife, brother, and mother have lodged serious allegations, demanding an impartial probe and strict action against those responsible.

The incident has sparked outrage, raising questions about patient safety inside one of Odisha’s premier medical institutions. Police have taken the matter seriously. Under the supervision of the Kataka DCP, a special team has been formed to investigate.

The scientific team has already visited the site, seized CCTV footage and medical records, and initiated forensic examination. More than ten individuals — including doctors, nursing officers, and ward attendants — are being interrogated.

Meanwhile, the Mangalabag police have sent samples of the deceased’s liver, kidney, heart, and viscera to the State Forensic Laboratory for histopathological study. Officials say the final report will determine the exact cause of death and establish whether custodial assault led to the tragedy.

The family’s demand for justice has intensified public pressure on authorities.
