Bhubaneswar, Oct 24: A fresh low-pressure system formed over the Bay of Bengal may intensify into a cyclone, according to renowned weather scientist Uma Shankar Dash.

The Regional Meteorological Centre has predicted moderate to heavy rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning across southern and coastal Odisha from October 27 to 29.
Districts including Malkangiri, Koraput, Kalahandi, Nabarangpur, Kandhamal, Rayagada, Ganjam, Gajapati, Puri, Nayagarh, and Khordha have been placed under a yellow warning for today.
Wind speeds during rainfall may reach 30–40 km/h, with the intensity and spread of showers expected to increase from October 25 onward. Notably, Bhawanipatna in Kalahandi recorded the highest rainfall of 18 mm in the last 24 hours.
Dash’s tweet has prompted increased vigilance among coastal states, especially Odisha, which has historically faced severe cyclonic impacts during October.
