Bhubaneswar, Jan 23: Vice-President C. P. Radhakrishnan arrived at the Biju Patnaik International Airport, Bhubaneswar in Odisha on Friday morning. Odisha Governor Dr Hari Babu Kambhampati, Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi and other dignitaries received him at the airport.
The Vice President is scheduled to participate in a commemorative programme honouring Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose’s 129th birth anniversary at the legendary freedom fighter’s birthplace in Cuttack, officials said.
According to the officials, the Vice-President will travel travel by road to Cuttack. Following the commemorative events, he will return to Bhubaneswar for lunch at Lok Bhavan, formerly Raj Bhavan, before departing for Kolkata at 2 PM.
Netaji was born on January 23, 1897, in Cuttack. The nation will celebrate Parakram Diwas 2026 to honour the legacy of Netaji on the occasion of his 129th birth anniversary on Friday.

✨On the occasion, several dignitaries will pay homage to Netaji and hoist the national flag at the house where Netaji was born, which has now been converted to a museum dedicated to him.
Vice-President Radhakrishnan will pay floral tributes at Netaji’s statue and visit the Netaji Birthplace Museum in Odia Bazaar, Cuttack. He will also inaugurate the newly constructed District Culture Bhavan, which has been named after Netaji, and unveil a postal gallery at Janakinath Bhavan.
The Vice-President will be accompanied by Governor Dr. Hari Babu Kambhampati and Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi during the programme.
Commissionerate Police has deployed 30 platoons of police force and nearly 300 officers in Cuttack in view of the Vice President’s visit.
As part of the security protocol, entry of the general public to the Netaji Birthplace Museum will remain restricted from 7 AM until 1 PM on Friday. Visitors, including students and citizens, will be allowed to enter the museum and memorial after 1 PM, the officials said.
