Bhubaneswar, Jan 22: Vice-President C. P. Radhakrishnan will embark on a one-day visit to Odisha on January 23, where he is set to participate in a commemorative programme honouring Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose’s birth anniversary at the legendary freedom fighter’s birthplace in Cuttack, officials said on Thursday.
Netaji was born on January 23, 1897, in Cuttack. The nation will celebrate Parakram Diwas 2026 to honour the legacy of Netaji on the occasion of his 129th birth anniversary on Friday.
On the occasion, several dignitaries will pay homage to Netaji and hoist the national flag at the house where Netaji was born, which has now been converted to a museum dedicated to him.
According to officials, the Vice-President will pay floral tributes at Netaji’s statue and visit the Netaji Birthplace Museum in Odia Bazaar, Cuttack. He will also inaugurate the newly constructed District Culture Bhavan, which has been named after Netaji, and unveil a postal gallery at Janakinath Bhavan.

The Vice-President will be accompanied by Governor Dr. Hari
Babu Kambhampati and Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi during the programme.

Preparations for the high-profile visit were reviewed at a meeting chaired by Chief Secretary Anu Garg. Commissionerate Police has undertaken a detailed security drill, with 30 platoons of police force and nearly 300 officers deployed in Cuttack. Security teams have inspected the museum and memorial site to ensure smooth arrangements.
As part of the security protocol, entry of the general public to the Netaji Birthplace Museum will remain restricted from 7 AM until 1 PM on Friday. Visitors, including students and citizens, will be allowed to enter the museum and memorial after 1 PM.
The Vice-President is scheduled to arrive at Biju Patnaik International Airport in Bhubaneswar at 8.50 AM and travel by road to Cuttack, reaching by 9.35 AM. Following the commemorative events, he will return to Bhubaneswar for lunch at Lok Bhavan, formerly Raj Bhavan, before departing for Kolkata at 2 PM.
