Vedanta Aluminium Coal Mines Showcases Next-Gen Mining Tech at CLI Expo 2026

Bhubaneswar, Sept 10: Vedanta Aluminium, India’s largest aluminium producer, highlighted its technology-driven mining practices and community initiatives at the 6th Coal Log India (CLI) Expo 2026 in Kolkata, officials said.

Organised by the Indian Coal Forum and Coal Producers Association, the event brought together leading stakeholders from the coal and mining sector.

The Vedanta Aluminium Coal Mines stall was inaugurated by senior industry leaders including Alok Perti, Chairman of the Indian Coal Forum and former Coal Secretary, Kapil Dhagat, Chairman of the Coal Producers Association, and Partha S Bhattacharyya, Chairman of Peerless Group and former Chairman of Coal India Limited.

The showcase featured Vedanta’s coal mining assets across Odisha and Chhattisgarh, including Kuraloi, Jamkhani, Ghogharpalli, Radhikapur and Barra. Visitors were given insights into mining operations, safety practices, and digital interventions.

We are leveraging digitalisation, AI-enabled surveillance and data-led insights to strengthen safety, operational visibility and efficiency, while continuing to support communities around our mines.”

The company demonstrated advanced mine management systems, real-time monitoring, AI-enabled surveillance and integrated dashboards for operational efficiency. These solutions optimise equipment utilisation, coal dispatch and stock quality.

Vedanta employees also participated in a B2B panel discussion on digital transformation, sustainable coal stewardship and asset management. The stall additionally showcased handcrafted products from Self-Help Groups (SHGs) supported by Vedanta, reflecting its commitment to grassroots entrepreneurship.

With over 500 visitors, including industry leaders and dignitaries, the showcase underscored Vedanta’s integrated approach to responsible growth—where technology-driven mining is complemented by socio-economic progress. Through interventions in education, healthcare, skill development and livelihood enhancement, Vedanta’s community programmes have positively impacted over 2 lakh people across 26 villages.
