Road Accident / Two Bikers Killed In Collision With Trailer Truck In Sundargarh

Sundargarh, Dec 6: Two people were killed in a tragic road accident on National Highway 143 near Gamlei Chhak under Lahunipara police limits in Sundargarh district.
According to reports, the victims, who were on a motorcycle bearing registration number OR 14K 3017, were travelling towards Rajamunda via NH-143. At Gamlei Chhak, a trailer truck (registration number OD 02CF 2969) coming from behind rammed into the bike. Following the incident, both the riders died at the spot.
On being informed, police reached the accident site promptly and initiated an investigation. The incident has sparked tension in the area, with locals expressing shock and grief over the fatal mishap.
Authorities are working to identify the victims and further
probe the circumstances leading to the collision.
In a similar incident, five people were killed and seven others injured after two cars collided near Keelakarai in Tamil Nadu's Ramanathapuram district.
Officials fear the death toll may climb as some of the injured remain in a serious state.

According to police, one of the vehicles was carrying
Ayyappa pilgrims from Andhra Pradesh bound for Rameswaram, while the other was
headed toward Iraavadi.

The impact left both cars mangled, prompting a swift response after locals alerted emergency services.
Preliminary investigation suggests that driver fatigue or drowsiness may have contributed, a danger often heightened during late-night or early-morning travel.

The tragedy has come just days after other fatal accidents shook the state.
