Tuition Teacher Shot While Returning Home, Critical

Mayurbhanj, Oct 19: A 32-year-old tuition teacher sustained critical injuries after being shot by unidentified assailants near Shakua village under the jurisdiction of Badasahi police in Mayurbhanj district late Saturday night.

According to reports, the victim, Sanjay Nayak, was returning home to Mankadapal village under Siali Ghati Panchayat around 10 PM after completing his tuition classes. Meanwhile, some unidentified miscreants intercepted Sanjay near the old brick kiln road and opened fire on him.

With the help of locals, Sanjay was immediately rushed to district headquarters hospital in Baripada.

A bullet reportedly struck Sanjay's abdomen, causing severe bleeding. Due to his critical condition, he was later referred to SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack for advanced treatment.

Later, police reached the scene and launched an investigation. However, the motive behind the attack remains unclear, and no arrests have been made so far.

Sanjay Nayak is known in his village as a dedicated tuition teacher and a farmer. His wife, an Anganwadi worker, stated that apart from a domestic dispute involving two individuals, her husband had no known enmity with anyone. She has appealed for proper medical support and a thorough investigation to identify the culprits behind the shooting.
