Ganjam, Sep 26: Fear has once again gripped the residents near the Northern Ghumsur Forest Division in Ganjam district after a tiger killed a calf. The latest incident occurred Baniaapalli village under Jagannathprasad Range.

According to reports, a tiger emerged from the nearby forest and dragged away a calf that had been tied near a cattle shed while the herder had briefly stepped away.

Locals also claimed that the tiger also attempted to take away a goat but fled after being chased off.

The region has been living in fear for over a week due to continuous tiger activity.

In the past seven days, the predator—believed to be the same tiger—has reportedly killed many domestic animals, including goats, sheep, and calves.

The matter has been reported to forest officials and efforts are underway to track the animal and prevent further attacks. Meanwhile, villagers remain anxious and have urged authorities to take swift action to ensure their safety and protect livestock.
