Child Welfare / Three-day ‘Angan Utsav’ begins in Odisha, ‘Dipti Portal’ Launched

Bhubaneswar, Sep 26: As part of the ongoing Poshan month celebrations, Anganwadi centres across Odisha have kicked off a three-day ‘Angan Utsav’ to promote nutrition, community participation, and grassroots recognition.

Deputy Chief Minister Pravati Parida inaugurated the festival and launched the Dipti Portal, a new digital initiative under the Women and Child Development Department.

Speaking at the launch, Parida emphasized the theme “Ama Anganwadi, Ama Daitwa” (Our Anganwadi, Our Responsibility), urging families to actively engage in the programme. She highlighted that government schemes succeed only through strong public participation.

PROGRAMME HIGHLIGHTS

September 27 (Nutrition & Food Contest): Competitions on nutrition and food preparation will be held at Anganwadi centres. For the first time, fathers will also participate alongside mothers. The ‘Tiranga Thali’ - a balanced platter of rice, dalma, vegetables, greens, sour dishes, and salad-will be introduced to encourage healthy eating.

September 28 (Child-Centric Activities): Storytelling, drawing, singing, and dance competitions will involve children and parents, fostering creativity and bonding.

September 29 (Angan Utsav): Anganwadi workers, helpers, and ASHA didis will be felicitated for their dedicated service. Beneficiaries of schemes like Subhadra, Mamata, Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana, and PM Awas will also be included.

BENEFITS FOR ANGANWADI WORKERS

Responding to long-standing demands, the government has increased the monthly honorarium of Anganwadi workers from ₹1,390 to ₹1,500, acknowledging their crucial role in child and maternal welfare.

DIPTI PORTAL LAUNCH

The Dipti Portal, developed through GCMS, makes the Women and Child Development Department the first in Odisha to adopt centralized digital bill payment.

Centralized Electricity Bill Payment: Around 37,802 schools and Anganwadi centres will have their electricity bills paid directly through the portal.

Uninterrupted Power Supply: This ensures continuous electricity without disconnections.

4% Rebate: Bills paid within seven days after two-step verification will earn the department a 4% rebate.

Authorities have appealed to every family to participate in the celebrations, reinforcing Anganwadi centres as pillars of community welfare.
