Subhadra Yojana / Raksha Bandhan Gift: Odisha Govt to Transfer 5th Subhadra Instalment to 1.01 Crore Women

Bhubaneswar, Aug 28: Odisha government will disburse the fifth instalment under the Subhadra Yojana to eligible women on the occasion of Raksha Bandhan today. Each beneficiary will receive Rs 5,000 directly into her bank account through DBT.

Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi and Deputy Chief Minister Pravati Parida will launch the disbursement from Nayagada. The fifth instalment is expected to reach the accounts of around 1,01,99,119 women across Odisha.

So far, more than Rs 20,648 crore has been transferred to over one crore women through the first four instalments of the scheme. Around 1.02 crore women benefited from the fourth instalment alone.

CM’s Nayagada Visit
Chief Minister Majhi and Deputy Chief Minister Parida will visit Nayagada for the day to oversee the fifth instalment disbursement. Around 15,000 women from the district are expected to attend the programme.

As part of the security arrangements, 12 platoons of police personnel have been deployed. The funds will be digitally transferred to beneficiaries across Odisha at around noon.

Rs 50,000 Over Five Years
Launched on September 17, 2024, the Subhadra Yojana provides eligible women with Rs 10,000 annually in two instalments of Rs 5,000 each -- one around Raksha Bandhan and the other around International Women’s Day.

The scheme is designed to provide each eligible woman with a total of Rs 50,000 over five years, with the government aiming to promote women's empowerment, self-reliance and financial inclusion.

The Odisha government has allocated Rs 10,145 crore for the scheme in the 2026-27 Budget.

Meanwhile, women who have not received any Subhadra instalment so far, along with newly eligible beneficiaries, are expected to receive Rs 25,000 covering all five instalments in a single transfer.
