Cuttack, Oct 24: Tension flared during the Kali Puja immersion procession at Chandini Chowk area here on Friday night.

As per reports, the situation escalated when the Bagdabad Bazaar idol procession was halted, leading to heated exchanges among devotees and organizers.

Police were forced to intervene and resorted to a mild lathicharge to disperse the crowd and restore order.

The incident comes close on the heels of similar unrest during the recent Durga Puja immersion in the city.

Police said that the situation is now under control and immersion activities resumed peacefully after the disruption. No major injuries were reported.
