Berhampur, Oct 25: Sangram Keshari Dhal, a 23-year-old job aspirant arrested in connection with the Police Sub-Inspector (SI) recruitment scam, has been hospitalized after his health condition suddenly worsened while in jail.

Sangram, a resident of Dimiria village under Narsinghpur police limits in Cuttack district, is reportedly suffering from Bell’s Palsy — a neurological condition that causes facial paralysis.

Sources confirm that Sangram’s right side of the face has become visibly distorted, and he is unable to close his right eye properly. Following the alarming symptoms, he was shifted from jail to MKCG Medical College and Hospital in Berhampur under tight security for a CT scan. He is currently admitted to the medicine department for further treatment.

Doctors have advised that Sangram undergo physiotherapy sessions after a few days of medication to aid his recovery. His condition is being closely monitored, and he is expected to remain under medical care for the coming days.

Sangram was arrested earlier for his alleged involvement in the SI exam scam, which rocked the state’s recruitment process. He was one of several aspirants accused of using unfair means during the examination. His sudden health deterioration has raised concerns among his family and legal representatives, who are now seeking appropriate medical attention and legal recourse.

The incident has added another layer of complexity to the ongoing investigation into the recruitment scam. Authorities are expected to review his medical reports and determine the next steps regarding his custody and legal proceedings.
