Weather Update / Short But Intense Winter Predicted For Odisha, Night Temperatures Dip: IMD

Bhubaneswar, Nov 1: After a delayed onset, winter has
finally begun to make its presence across Odisha. Reportedly, this year winter
will visit the state with a busy schedule that to last for a short period of
time.
The chill is expected to intensify intermittently, bringing
brief periods of biting cold to various parts of the state.
According to the latest forecast, dry and cold northwesterly winds have started entering Odisha, contributing to a noticeable drop in nighttime temperatures. The southern and northern interior regions of the state are already experiencing a significant dip, with temperatures expected to fall by 1 to 2°C tonight.
From tomorrow onward, the entire state is likely to witness
a further decline in night temperatures and over the next 2 to 3 days, the
mercury is projected to drop by 3 to 4°C.

✨Despite the late arrival, this year’s winter is expected to be brief in duration but intense in phases, especially during early mornings and late nights.
Residents are advised to prepare for sudden cold snaps and take necessary precautions, particularly in vulnerable regions.
The India Meteorological Department has also indicated that
La Nina conditions developing globally may contribute to more severe winter
episodes across India, including Odisha.
