Cuttack, Sep 20: The Economic Offences Wing (EOW) of the Odisha Crime Branch on Saturday arrested senior Biju Janata Dal (BJD) leader Dillip Kumar Nayak in connection with a massive Rs 12.42 crore fraud case.
The arrest was made following a raid at his residence in the Jhanjirimangala area under Badambadi Police Station in Cuttack.
Preliminary investigations suggest that the scam involved forged documents, false promises of land allotment, and misappropriation of funds amounting to over Rs 7.42 crore, with further financial discrepancies pushing the total to Rs 12.42 crore.

✨The EOW has confirmed that the investigation is ongoing and more arrests may follow. Authorities are also working to identify victims and recover diverted funds.
Nayak, a prominent figure in the BJD, has held various organisational roles and is known for his influence in coastal Odisha politics. He had unsuccessfully contested the 2024 Assembly elections from Nimapada on a BJD ticket.
