Bhatli / Senior BJD Leader and Former Odisha Minister Susanta Singh Passes Away at 53

Bhubaneswar, Jul 27: Senior Biju Janata Dal (BJD) leader and former Odisha minister Susanta Singh passed away on Monday while undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Bhubaneswar. He was 53.

Singh had been battling a prolonged illness and was admitted to Apollo Hospital a few days ago after his health deteriorated.

A prominent political figure from western Odisha, Singh represented the Bhatli Assembly constituency in Bargarh district for three consecutive terms after winning the 2009, 2014 and 2019 Assembly elections.

His demise has triggered an outpouring of grief across the political spectrum. Leaders of the Biju Janata Dal, along with politicians from various other parties, expressed their condolences and paid tribute to his contributions to public life.

Senior BJP leader Dharmendra Pradhan took to 'X' and wrote, "I am saddened to hear the news of the demise of Sushant Singh, the former minister of Odisha. His contributions to the field of politics will remain eternally memorable. While praying for the eternal peace of the departed soul, I extend my condolences to the bereaved family members. Om Shanti."

With his demise, the party has lost a skilled organizer and a popular leader. His contributions to strengthening the Biju Janata Dal, along with his service to the people, will always remain memorable. While praying for the eternal peace of his departed soul, I also extend my deepest condolences to the bereaved family members during this sorrowful time."
