Bhubaneswar, Jul 27: Senior Biju Janata Dal (BJD) leader and former Odisha minister Susanta Singh passed away on Monday while undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Bhubaneswar. He was 53.
Singh had been battling a prolonged illness and was admitted to Apollo Hospital a few days ago after his health deteriorated.
A prominent political figure from western Odisha, Singh represented the Bhatli Assembly constituency in Bargarh district for three consecutive terms after winning the 2009, 2014 and 2019 Assembly elections.

Senior BJP leader Dharmendra Pradhan took to 'X' and wrote, "I am saddened to hear the news of the demise of Sushant Singh, the former minister of Odisha. His contributions to the field of politics will remain eternally memorable. While praying for the eternal peace of the departed soul, I extend my condolences to the bereaved family members. Om Shanti."
