Bhubaneswar, Sep 29: As the vibrant spirit of Durga Puja sweeps across Odisha, the Twin City of Cuttack and Bhubaneswar ramped up security measures to ensure a safe and joyous celebration. With thousands of devotees thronging the streets and puja mandaps, the Commissionerate Police has rolled out an extensive plan to maintain law and order, senior police officer said on Monday.

Massive Deployment Across Cities
Briefing the media, Police Commissioner S. Devdatta Singh that as many as 61 platoons of police personnel and 20 platoons of Home Guards have been deployed across the two cities. This strategic mobilization aims to manage crowd flow, prevent untoward incidents, and provide rapid response in case of emergencies.

Mandaps Under Watchful Eyes
Security cover has been extended to 193 puja mandaps, with special attention given to 24 pandals known for their elaborate decorations and valuable ornaments. All mandaps are under round-the-clock CCTV surveillance, ensuring continuous monitoring and swift action if needed.

Tech-Driven Vigilance
In a bid to modernize festival security, aerial surveillance using drones has been initiated. A Smart Control Room has also been set up to oversee real-time activities, enabling authorities to respond promptly to any disruptions. Additionally, fire and electrical safety protocols have been reinforced to prevent hazards.

The Police Commissioner urged citizens to celebrate responsibly and assist law enforcement in maintaining peace. With the festive fervor at its peak, public cooperation remains key to ensuring a harmonious and secure Durga Puja experience.
