Bhubaneswar, Nov 3: To identify and promote hidden sports talent from rural and semi-urban areas, the Sansad Khel Mahotsav 2025 will be held across the Sambalpur Lok Sabha constituency from November 7 to 25.  

The event is a significant step forward in promoting Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Fit India and Khelo India initiatives.

The festival aims to ignite a passion for sports among the youth and provide a platform for aspiring athletes to showcase their skills.

Organised under the leadership of Sambalpur MP and Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, the event reflects the emphasis placed on physical education and sports in the National Education Policy. It is expected to strengthen both the physical and mental well-being of students and young participants.

The inaugural ceremony of the Sansad Khel Mahotsav for the Sambalpur parliamentary constituency will be held at the Indira Gandhi Stadium in Tileibani, Deogarh district, on November 7.   

Additionally, for the Dhenkanal parliamentary constituency, the inauguration will take place on November 11 at the Dhenkanal Stadium.  

The 19-day-long sports festival will be organised across various blocks in Angul, Dhenkanal, and Deogarh districts, covering both Sambalpur and Dhenkanal parliamentary constituencies.

The competitions will be divided into two age categories: - Junior Division (14–17 years): 100m & 200m sprints, discus throw, shot put, and kho-kho. - Senior Division (18–23 years): 100m & 200m sprints, discus throw, shot put, and kabaddi.  

The primary objective is to identify grassroots-level athletes and provide them with opportunities to compete at district, state, and national levels.
