Bhubaneswar, Sep 5: A motorcycle rider died after falling from Rasulgarh flyover in Bhubaneswar on Saturday afternoon, prompting police to launch an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident, a source said.
Personnel from Mancheswar and Saheed Nagar police stations reached the spot after receiving information about the incident. The injured rider, who fell on the service road under the flyover in Rasulgarh, was taken to Capital Hospital in a police PCR van for treatment. However, doctors declared him dead.
The two-wheeler of the victim was seen lying on the flyover while the ignition key was still inserted inside the keyhole. The helmet of the rider was also attached to the bike's mirror, while a plastic bag carrying apples was also lying near the vehicle.
Police have launched an investigation to ascertain how the motorcycle rider fell from the overbridge. Details about the identity of the deceased and the exact circumstances leading to the incident are yet to emerge.

Two Killed In Khandagiri Flyover Crash
The Rasulgarh incident comes one month after a fatal motorcycle crash on the Khandagiri flyover, in which two people were killed.
The two were identified as Rashmi Ranjan Das, 28, from Kendrapada, and Biswa Ranjan Patnaik, 30, from Balasore. Police said Das had criminal antecedents and was facing multiple charges.
According to DCP Jagmohan Meena, the two men were allegedly racing their motorcycle with another bike when they lost control and crashed into a vehicle on July 15.
The motorcycle's front portion was badly damaged in the collision. Police ruled out a hit-and-run based on the preliminary investigation.
