Dhenkanal, Jan 4: A tragic incident unfolded in Dhenkanal district of Odisha when a blast at a black stone quarry near Gopalpur village under Motanga police station led to the collapse of heavy stone slabs, trapping several workers beneath.
The accident occurred during blasting operations on Saturday, leaving the area in shock and grief.
So far, the bodies of two workers have been recovered from
the debris, while rescue teams fear that more lives may have been lost. The
exact number of casualties remains unclear as operations continue.

According to preliminary reports, at least four workers are believed to have died, with several others injured. The deceased workers are suspected to be from the Deogarh region, though official confirmation is awaited.

Rescue efforts have been intensified with the deployment of Odisha Disaster Rapid Action Force (ODRAF) and fire service teams. Three heavy machines are being used to clear the debris and search for trapped workers.
