Rairangpur, Nov 26: Rairangpur in Mayurbhanj district is set to witness a wave of development projects as the government announces a series of initiatives ahead of the President’s scheduled visit.
The projects span healthcare, education, agriculture, sports, and environmental conservation, marking a transformative phase for the region.
One of the most significant announcements is the establishment of a satellite centre of AIIMS Bhubaneswar in Rairangpur, aimed at improving advanced healthcare access for tribal and rural populations.
Alongside, a government Ayurvedic Medical College and
Hospital will be constructed at a cost of ₹70 crore, strengthening traditional
medicine infrastructure.

Education receives a major boost with the decision to set up a Tribal University, a Triple IT (Indian Institute of Information Technology), and two new Navodaya Vidyalayas in Rairangpur and Karanjia. Additionally, the Indian Institute of Forest Management will open its second campus in Rairangpur, enhancing research and training opportunities in forestry and environmental studies.

A Central Agricultural University will also be established, focusing on modern farming techniques and rural development.
Sports and culture are not left behind, as the government has approved the creation of an Archery Academy, recognizing Mayurbhanj’s rich tribal heritage and talent in archery.
To further boost tourism and ecological preservation, ₹50 crore has been sanctioned for the development of Similipal National Park, one of India’s most renowned tiger reserves and biodiversity hotspots.
A high-level meeting chaired by the Chief Secretary, with the participation of departmental secretaries and the Mayurbhanj District Collector, reviewed the progress of these projects. Departments have been directed to prepare Detailed Project Reports (DPRs) swiftly, while land identification responsibilities have been assigned to the district administration. The emphasis is on expediting implementation to ensure timely completion.
These initiatives are expected to transform Rairangpur into
a hub of healthcare, education, agriculture, and tourism, while also honouring
the tribal identity of the region.
