Bhubaneswar, Nov 6: ISRO’s Gaganyaan astronaut Captain Shubhanshu Shukla shared insights from his ongoing space-training journey and India’s ambitious plans for the future of space exploration to the students.
Addressing the 9th edition of SAITED, hosted by a private school in Bhubaneswar, Shukla revealed that his mission preparations began in August last year, marking a crucial step in India’s first human spaceflight program, Gaganyaan.
He recounted the rigorous training process, designed to prepare astronauts for the challenges of space travel, and emphasized the importance of discipline, resilience, and scientific curiosity.
Highlighting India’s long-term vision, Shukla noted that the country aims to reach the Moon by 2040, underscoring ISRO’s commitment to advancing human space exploration.

It may be noted that after spending 18 days on the ISS, as part of the US-based Axiom Space's Mission 4 along with astronauts from the US, Poland, and Hungary, Shubhanshu Shukla returned to Earth on July 15. Following a month-long rehabilitation in the US, Shukla returned to India on August 17.
His 18-day stay aboard the ISS was packed with several experiments led by ISRO and other activities on the orbital lab.
