Special Visit / President Droupadi Murmu Concludes Odisha Visit, Returns to Delhi

Bhubaneswar, Aug 5: President Droupadi Murmu concluded her three-day visit to Odisha on Wednesday, returning to Delhi on a special flight from Biju Patnaik International Airport in the capital city.

Governor Dr. Hari Babu Kambhampati, Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, and Chief Secretary Anu Garg were present at the BPIA to accord a warm farewell to the President of India.

Earlier, the President travelled from Brahmapur to Bhubaneswar in a special train, escorted by two additional trains for security.

She had arrived in Brahmapur on Tuesday in the special train. She was warmly received by Governor Kambhampati and CM Majhi, along with ministers, MPs, MLAs, and senior officials. The station was decorated with cultural performances including Byaghra Nrutya, sankirtan, and traditional folk dances, showcasing Ganjam’s rich heritage.

During her stay, President Murmu visited the Dhabaleswar temple early in the morning, offering prayers to Lord Shiva. She also spent time at the Army Air Defence College in Gopalpur, where she stayed overnight.

On Tuesday, she travelled to Taptapani in Ganjam district, where she paid obeisance at the Maa Kandhuni Devi Temple and Baba Nilakantheswar. Breaking protocol, she distributed chocolates to children, winning hearts with her gesture.

At Taptapani, the President was greeted with traditional songs and dances by local artists, reflecting the vibrant tribal culture of the region. Governor Kambhampati and CM Majhi accompanied her during the visit.

The Ganjam visit comes a day after President Murmu inaugurated the Jagadguru Kripalu University at Cuttack. Addressing the gathering, she emphasised that universities must create an environment where young people can develop their talents and realise their aspirations.
