BRICS Meet / Pralhad Joshi to Attend 13th BRICS Education Ministers’ Meet in Odisha

Bhubaneswar/New Delhi, Aug 4: Union Education Minister Pralhad Joshi will participate in the 13th BRICS Education Ministers’ Meeting, scheduled to be held in Bhubaneswar, Odisha, from August 5–7, officials said on Tuesday.

The Ministry of Education, under India’s BRICS chairship, will also host the 3rd BRICS Senior Officials’ Meeting alongside the ministerial deliberations.

The meetings will bring together education ministers, senior officials, and delegates from BRICS member countries to discuss collaboration across priority areas. These include strengthening Early Childhood Care and Education (ECCE), advancing skill development through the BRICS TVET Cooperation Alliance (TCA), promoting collaborative research and innovation, enhancing mutual recognition of qualifications, and building capacity for academic leadership.

India’s chairship is guided by the theme “Building for Resilience, Innovation, Cooperation and Sustainability”, reflecting the people-centric and humanity-first approach articulated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi at the 2025 BRICS Summit in Rio de Janeiro.

The Bhubaneswar meetings build upon a series of engagements under the BRICS Education Track. Earlier this year, the 1st and 2nd Senior Officials’ Meetings were held in April, followed by the BRICS Network University Conference and International Governing Board Meeting in July. These discussions have helped shape consensus on the proposed outcomes for the ministerial meeting.

Ahead of the Bhubaneswar summit, the BRICS TVET Symposium and the Joint Management Committee meeting of the BRICS TVET Cooperation Alliance were held in New Delhi on August 3–4, led by the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship. These engagements focused on deepening cooperation in technical and vocational education, skills development, and workforce preparedness.

Alongside high-level deliberations, India’s chairship is placing strong emphasis on youth participation and people-to-people exchanges. The Model BRICS initiative, conceptualised as a student-focused programme, will be organised on the sidelines of ministerial meetings across India. It aims to familiarise young citizens with BRICS processes while strengthening their understanding of diplomacy, multilateral cooperation, and consensus-building.
