Bhawanipatna, Mar 31: Police approached the JMFC court in Madanpur Rampur seeking an arrest warrant against Durga Prasad Mohanty, husband of BJD MLA Manorama Mohanty and chairman of Narla block in Kalahandi district, in connection with a case involving alleged death threats to a local tehsildar and obstruction of government work.
Police Unable To Trace Accused
According to police, efforts to locate Mohanty have so far failed. A team had visited the MLA’s government residence in Bhubaneswar on Sunday to serve notice, but he was not found.
Following this, Kalahandi police filed an application in court seeking issuance of a warrant against him.
Threat Allegations By Tehsildar
The case is based on a complaint filed by Narla tehsildar Bibhu Prasad Singh, who alleged that Mohanty interfered in official duties and threatened him over a phone call.
As per the complaint, Mohanty had been creating obstacles in various government works. When the tehsildar objected, he was allegedly threatened with death, raising concerns over the safety of public officials.

Multiple Cases, Chargesheets Already Filed
Police said Mohanty is facing four cases, including the present one. Chargesheets have already been filed in three cases.
Despite sustained efforts over the past week, the accused has remained untraceable, prompting police to escalate legal action.
Case Registered Under BNS Provisions
A case (No. 72/26) was registered at Narla police station on March 15 under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, including Sections 296, 221, 224, 351(2) and 351(3).
Police said further action will depend on the court’s decision on the warrant plea as the investigation continues.
