Crime in Odisha / Police Foil Major Criminal Plot, Seize Guns & Live Bullets In Mayurbhanj Forest

Mayurbhanj, Oct 23: In a swift operation on an intelligence input, Baisinga police officials successfully foiled a major criminal plot.

Acting on reliable inputs about the movement of some criminals in the forest area, a police team was formed under the direction of Mayurbhanj SP to nab the accused persons.

The team under the supervision of Betnoti SDPO Minati Biswal conducted a raid in a forest area close to Mahespur on the Kalama-Gobindraypur road under Baisinga police station in Mayurbhanj district.

During the raid, two accused persons, on spotting the police personnel, managed to escape.

Later, a thorough search of the area yielded significant evidence, including two country-made guns and two live bullets.

The seizure of the firearms and ammunition has prevented a potential major incident, said a senior police official.

The authorities have confirmed that a massive manhunt is currently underway, with raids being conducted at various locations to apprehend the absconding criminals.

Baisinga police have registered a case and are continuing their investigation into the matter.
