Bhubaneswar, June 19: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Odisha tomorrow to attend a major event at Rairangpur in Mayurbhanj district marking two years of the BJP government in the state.
PM will be joined by President Droupadi Murmu, making it a
rare occasion for Odisha to host the country's top two constitutional
functionaries together. The leaders will inaugurate and lay foundation stones
for development projects worth over Rs 47,600 crore, marking two years of the Mohan
Majhi government.
In a post on X PM Modi wrote: “I will be in Mayurbhanj,
Odisha, tomorrow, on 20 June. This visit will be noteworthy because the
President will participate in this program. Mayurbhanj is also the home
district of the Hon’ble President Droupadi Murmu Ji. The President and I will
go to Pahadpur village, and after that, we will participate in the program
marking the completion of two years of the current Odisha government.
Development works worth more than Rs 47,000 crore will be inaugurated or have
their foundation stones laid.”

Visit to Pahadpur Village
Following the Prime Minister's arrival on Saturday, he and President Murmu are scheduled to visit Pahadpur, the President's in-laws’ village in Mayurbhanj district, at around 11:15 a.m. Both the dignitaries will offer prayers at the sacred groves Santhali Jahera and Ho Jahera, Skill Centre and Pahadpur School. The visit highlights ongoing efforts to strengthen education, skill development, and socio-economic empowerment in tribal and rural regions.

✨At 1 PM, both the leaders will attend the state-level programme themed “Vikas ra Dhara, Odisha Sara”. They will inaugurate and lay foundation stones for development projects worth over ₹47,600 crore across energy, industrial infrastructure, road connectivity, drinking water, health, education, tourism, and irrigation. The Prime Minister will also address the gathering.
Major Projects
Key projects include the 600 MW Upper Indravati Pumped Storage Project and Stage-II Expansion of the IB Thermal Power Station with two 660 MW units. The Bharat Coal Gasification and Chemicals Limited (BCGCL) project at Lakhanpur, Jharsuguda, will also be launched, promoting cleaner coal utilisation and reducing import dependence.
Other projects comprise a municipal solid waste-based
compressed biogas plant in Bhubaneswar, a bridge over the Kathajodi river
linking Cuttack and Bhubaneswar, widening of the Dhalpur-Harbhanga Road in
Boudh, and four-laning of NH-353 from Nuapada to Ghatipada. Healthcare and
education initiatives include a 300-bedded hospital at Boudh, Atal Bus Stands,
IGNOU Regional Centre, and sports complexes.
