Key Points
Baripada, Jun 19: President Droupadi Murmu arrived at Rairangpur in Odisha’s
Mayurbhanj district on Friday evening to begin her two-day visit to her home
state, officials said.
Odisha Governor Dr. Kambhampati Hari Babu, Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi and senior officials accorded a warm welcome to the President after her arrival in the town.
President Murmu’s arrival was delayed due to adverse weather conditions, forcing a change in travel plans. Originally scheduled to land at Dandbose Airstrip, the President travelled by road from Kalaikunda Airbase in West Bengal, covering over 100 km before reaching Rairangpur via Bangiriposhi and Bishoi.
Official sources said that poor visibility grounded her helicopter, necessitating the road journey. The President’s convoy reached Rairangpur late this evening and proceeded to the Holiday Home in the town.
