Argal Panchayat faces fresh pension scheme controversy as eligible seniors are excluded and ineligible names appear, echoing past fraud cases. Locals demand investigation, warning of protests if justice is denied.

Kendrapada, Oct 6: Kendrapada district’s Aali block has once again witnessed controversy over the distribution of pensions under the state government’s Madhubabu Pension Yojana.

The newly released beneficiary list from Argal Panchayat has sparked anger among locals, as several eligible recipients have allegedly been excluded while ineligible names have appeared.

According to reports, 89 names were published in the latest list. However, genuine beneficiaries claim they have been unfairly left out, while individuals with forged documents have managed to secure pensions.

This echoes a similar scandal from 2024, when fake school leaving certificates were used to manipulate ages and qualify for benefits.

Back then, a joint investigation by block officials and a medical team exposed 65 individuals who had submitted fraudulent certificates. Cases were registered against them, yet many genuine beneficiaries were denied pensions.

Some even passed away while waiting for justice, highlighting the human cost of administrative lapses.

Now, locals allege that the same malpractice has resurfaced. They point out that despite earlier exposure, certain individuals have again managed to get their names included using questionable documents.

Meanwhile, deserving elderly citizens have been excluded, leading to widespread resentment.

Villagers warn that if the administration fails to investigate and rectify the irregularities, they will stage protests in front of the block office. The issue has raised serious questions about the verification process and accountability of officials.

Speaking on the matter, BDO Abinash Sethy stated: “If the allegations are proven true, strict action will be taken against those involved.” However, for many in Argal Panchayat, the damage has already been done, as trust in the system continues to erode.
