Baripada, Oct 6: Odisha Vigilance has arrested Arabinda Mohanty, Assistant Executive Engineer (AEE) of the Roads and Buildings (R&B) Sub-Division at Betnoti in Mayurbhanj district, in connection with an alleged disproportionate assets (DA) case.

Mohanty was arrested after the Vigilance department conducted simultaneous searches at multiple locations linked to him on Monday over allegations of possession of assets disproportionate to his known sources of income.

Cash, Lease Agreement Recovered
During a search at a house linked to Mohanty at Kanchilo under Pahala police station limits in Khordha district, Vigilance officials reportedly recovered around Rs 2.5 lakh in cash and a lease agreement, among other documents.

The Vigilance department had earlier conducted searches at 10 locations linked to Mohanty across Mayurbhanj, Baleshwar and Khordha districts.

The searches were carried out on the strength of warrants issued by the Special Judge, Vigilance, Baripada. A team comprising five DSPs, eight inspectors and other supporting staff took part in the operation.

Searches At 10 Locations
According to Odisha Vigilance, searches were conducted at Mohanty's three-storey residential building at Angaragadia in Baleshwar, a two-storey building at Balianta in Khordha, his office at the R&B Sub-Division in Betnoti and his residence at Betnoti.

Vigilance teams also searched his paternal house at Rayaramachandrapur in Jaleswar, farmhouse at Basantapur, another house at Bampada, and the residences of close associates at Angaragadia, Baisinga and Bampada.

At the Betnoti R&B office, a seven-member Vigilance team led by Inspector Sabita Panigrahi conducted the search. Officials also searched his government quarters and collected documents and other information.

Vigilance Inspector Sabita Panigrahi said no articles were seized from the Betnoti R&B office or the government quarters, while items were seized from some of the other locations.
