Nayagarh, Jan 13: Several passengers sustained injuries after the bus they were travelling in overturned to a farm field near Shitulia Sahi Square under Gania police station limits in Nayagarh district.


According to reports, a private bus named Bul Bul was en route from Balangir to Cuttack when the driver lost control over the wheels while negotiating a stretch of road. As a result, the vehicle overturned into a roadside field. In the process, it also uprooted a palm tree and damaged an electric pole, disrupting local infrastructure.


As per to eyewitness accounts, the bus was carrying over 15 passengers at the time of the mishap.


While the exact number of injuries has not yet been confirmed, officials said that all passengers were safely evacuated. To ensure their onward journey, another bus was arranged overnight to transport them to their destination.


Local police from Gania reached the accident site promptly and began an investigation into the cause of the crash.

Preliminary reports suggest that the driver may have lost control of the vehicle, though mechanical failure has not been ruled out.


The incident has raised concerns about road safety and the condition of passenger buses operating on the Balangir–Cuttack route. Authorities are expected to review the matter further as part of their ongoing probe.
