Paddy MSP Hiked as Farmers to Get ₹69 More Per Quintal

Bhubaneswar, Nov 5: In a major boost for farmers, the government has announced an increase in the Minimum Support Price (MSP) for paddy during the ongoing Kharif season.

 

As per the latest notification from the Department of Food Supplies and Consumer Welfare, farmers will now receive ₹69 more per quintal compared to last year.

 

The revised MSP for common grade paddy has been set at ₹3169 per quintal, up from ₹3100. For Grade A paddy, the price has been fixed at ₹3189 per quintal. This move is expected to benefit lakhs of farmers across Odisha and other rice-producing states.

The Central Government has already declared an MSP of ₹2369 per quintal for paddy. In addition to this, the Odisha State Government is offering an input subsidy of ₹800 per quintal, effectively raising the procurement price to ₹3169 for common grade and ₹3189 for Grade A paddy.

This announcement comes as a relief to farmers who have been grappling with rising input costs and unpredictable weather conditions. The increased MSP is aimed at ensuring better returns and encouraging continued cultivation of paddy in the region.

 

Officials from the Food Supplies Department stated that the procurement process will be streamlined to ensure timely payments and smooth transactions. The government also plans to strengthen procurement centres and digital tracking to avoid delays.

 

Farmers’ associations have welcomed the move, calling it a step in the right direction to support agricultural livelihoods. This price hike is expected to bring financial relief and optimism to farming communities.
