Over 1,400 Revenue Vacancies To Be Filled As Odisha Steps Up Hiring
State Pushes Districts To Speed Up Recruitment Of Revenue Staff

Key Points

  • Odisha initiates process to fill 1,414 vacant revenue posts statewide.
  • Collectors asked to urgently submit requisitions to OSSSC.
  • Recruitment push aligns with government’s target of 65,000 appointments.
Bhubaneswar, Dec 13: The Odisha Revenue and Disaster Management Department has initiated the process to fill 1,414 vacant posts in the state revenue set-up and directed all district collectors to urgently submit online requisitions to the Odisha Sub-Ordinate Staff Selection Commission (OSSSC).

According to official instructions, the vacancies include 296 Revenue Inspectors (RI), 572 Assistant Revenue Inspectors (ARI), and 546 Amins. An official letter issued by Additional Secretary Alomoni Sethi stated that district administrations were earlier asked, through a communication dated November 17, 2025, to submit fresh online requisitions. However, so far, only four to five districts have complied, delaying the recruitment process and affecting the government’s appointment targets.

The department said the state government has placed top priority on filling vacant posts, and repeated reminders have also been issued during departmental review meetings to expedite the process.

Recruitment Push
The development comes amid the state government’s broader recruitment drive. On December 11, Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi reiterated his commitment to large-scale appointments, stating that 37,916 recruitments have been completed in the last 18 months. The government has promised to fill 65,000 posts within the first two years of its tenure.

At a ceremony in Bhubaneswar, the Chief Minister handed over appointment letters to 591 newly recruited employees from the Water Resources, Housing and Urban Development, and Works departments. He said recruitment is key to strengthening governance and improving the delivery of welfare schemes.

Majhi added that appointments have been carried out in 13 phases, with 30,000 more posts to be filled in the next six months, and another 15,000 vacancies to be addressed soon.
