Bhubaneswar, Dec 13: Night temperatures across parts of Odisha have shown a slight rise under the influence of a western disturbance, but severe cold conditions continue to grip interior districts, according to weather officials.

On Friday night, Rourkela recorded the lowest minimum temperature at 8°C, followed by Jharsuguda at 8.2°C. Keonjhar reported 10.2°C, while Sambalpur recorded 11.4°C and Hirakud 12.2°C. In the coastal belt, Bhubaneswar recorded 12.6°C, Balasore 14.2°C, Gopalpur 14.3°C, Chandbali 14.5°C, Paradip 14.9°C, and Puri 16.6°C.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) said dry weather is very likely to prevail across Odisha till December 13, with shallow to moderate fog expected at one or two places in Sundargarh, Kandhamal and Kalahandi districts. A yellow warning has been issued for cold wave conditions in isolated pockets of Angul, Jharsuguda and Kalahandi.

The forecast for December 13 to December 14 indicates similar conditions, with dry weather continuing and fog likely in Sundargarh, Kandhamal and Kalahandi districts. Cold wave conditions are again expected to persist in isolated areas of Angul, Jharsuguda and Kalahandi districts, the IMD said.

While coastal areas have seen marginal relief, interior Odisha continues to experience biting cold, with residents advised to take necessary precautions during early morning and night hours.
