Bhubaneswar, Sep 28: In a decisive action under Operation Prahar, the enforcement team of the Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) demolished an illegal country liquor unit in Salia Sahi area here.

This follows the arrest of four individuals yesterday which unearthed a secret distillery hidden inside a concealed chamber, with three more apprehended today in connection with the operation. However, the owner of the unit had fled prior to the demolition.

The raid led to the destruction of the distillery setup and the disposal of approximately six liters of illicit liquor, which was neutralized by mixing it into the soil.

The crackdown is part of BMC’s ongoing efforts to curb the production and distribution of unauthorized alcohol in the city.

Further investigations are underway to identify additional links and prevent recurrence in the area.
