Bhubaneswar, Jan 21: One person was killed while two others sustained critical injuries when a Thar SUV collided with a Bullet motorcycle near Capital Hospital Square in Bhubaneswar last night.


The deceased person has been identified as Raja Pedini, a resident of Gosagareswar Square in Old Town.


According to eyewitnesses, the impact was severe, and one of the riders was crushed under the wheels of the Thar, leading to his instant death.


Of the two injured, one has been shifted to AIIMS Bhubaneswar for advanced treatment, while the other is undergoing medical care at Capital Hospital.


Police from Capital Police Station have seized both the Thar and the Bullet involved in the accident.


On the other hand, an investigation has been initiated, with officers examining CCTV footage from the surrounding area to identify and apprehend those responsible.

The incident has sparked concern among locals about reckless driving in the busy hospital square, an area known for heavy traffic and pedestrian movement.


In a similar incident under the Chandaka police station area, a Thar overturned after it collided with another speeding vehicle. However, no injury was reported.


Reportedly, both the vehicles involved in the crash have been seized by the police. Further details are awaited as the investigation is underway.
