Sambalpur, June 30: The Vigilance officials on Tuesday unearthed assets worth crores of rupees, including 20 high-value plots, during searches on the properties of a senior officer of the state-run Veer Surendra Sai Institute of Medical Sciences and Research (VIMSAR), Burla in Odisha’s Sambalpur district, officials said.
The searches, carried out on the basis of warrants issued by
the Special Judge, Vigilance, Sambalpur, targeted four locations associated
with Dhanurdhar Biswal, Establishment Officer-cum-Office Superintendent of
VIMSAR. Officials said the raids followed allegations that Biswal possessed
assets disproportionate to his known sources of income.

✨During the operation, vigilance teams detected 20 valuable plots on the outskirts of Sambalpur, two buildings including a multi-storeyed structure, Rs 19.72 lakh in cash, a truck, two tractors, a four-wheeler, and gold ornaments. The raids were conducted by a team comprising two Deputy Superintendents of Police, five inspectors, three assistant sub-inspectors, and supporting staff.
In a parallel operation, searches on properties linked to
Aswini Meher, Steward in the office of the Superintendent of VIMSAR, also
revealed extensive holdings.

The Vigilance Technical Wing is currently assessing the
measurement and valuation of the properties. Investigators are also examining
bank deposits, postal savings, and other financial instruments linked to the
accused officials. Vehicles, including two two-wheelers, were seized during the
searches.
Officials said that the raids are ongoing and further details will emerge as the investigation progresses. The operation underscores Odisha Vigilance’s intensified crackdown on disproportionate assets among government employees in the state.
