Cuttack, July 8: Odisha Vigilance on Wednesday launched simultaneous searches at four locations linked to Forest Ranger Rabindra Kumar Nayak of Kendrapada Forest Range, following allegations of possession of disproportionate assets (DA) beyond his known sources of income, officials said.

Officials said the searches were carried out on the strength of warrants issued by the Special Judge, Vigilance, Cuttack. The operation was led by five DSPs, nine Inspectors, five ASIs, and supporting staff.

The locations under scrutiny include Nayak’s four-storied residential building at Munduli, Godisahi in Baranga, Cuttack district; his parental house at Sahadapada in Banki, Cuttack district; his office chamber at Kendrapada Forest Range; and his temporary residence in Kendrapada.

Sources said that the searches are continuing, with teams examining documents, assets, and other materials to assess whether Nayak’s wealth exceeds his known income. The Vigilance department has intensified its drive against corruption and disproportionate assets in recent months, targeting officials across various departments.

The investigation into Nayak’s assets comes amid growing public demand for accountability in the state’s forest and environmental administration. Vigilance officials are expected to release further details once the searches are completed.
