Bhubaneswar, Sep 8: In a major step to strengthen industrial safety and foster a culture of accident prevention across Odisha’s factories, Ganesh Ram Singkhuntia, Minister for Forest, Environment & Climate Change, Labour & ESI, on Tuesday released the “Surakshya Setu: Industrial Safety & Risk Management Manual”, officials said.
Minister’s Call for Safer Workplaces
Speaking at the launch, the Minister said that widespread dissemination of safety knowledge would enable industries, workers and employees to identify and eliminate unsafe practices. “Active participation of all stakeholders is essential to achieving our goal of zero industrial accidents in the State,” he said.

✨The manual has been developed as a practical and user-friendly reference for workers, supervisors, safety professionals, managers and other stakeholders engaged in industrial operations. It provides accessible guidance on hazard identification, risk assessment, safe work procedures, accident prevention and emergency preparedness.
Building a Safety-Oriented Culture
Officials noted that the manual will play a crucial role in
enhancing safety awareness and promoting safe work practices. By encouraging
industries to adopt its guidelines, the initiative seeks to strengthen a
safety-oriented culture and ensure healthier workplaces across Odisha.

Ceremony and Commitment
The release ceremony was attended by Principal Secretary Dodda Venkat Swamy, Labour Commissioner Indramani Tripathy, Director of Factories & Boilers, and Dr. Malaya Kumar Pradhan, Deputy Director (Safety). The Department reaffirmed its commitment to worker safety, prevention of industrial accidents and promotion of a safe and healthy working environment.
