Cuttack, May 29: Odisha Police has achieved remarkable success in its statewide special enforcement drive against crime and criminals, conducted between May 12 and May 29 under the directives of Director General of Police Yogesh Bahadur Khurania. The operation, supervised by Additional DGP (Law and Order) Sanjay Kumar, involved coordinated action across all police ranges and Commissionerate Police, officials said on Friday.
Warrants and Arrests
During the 18-day campaign, police executed 5,703 non-bailable warrants (NBWs) and arrested 520 absconding accused. Action was also taken against 957 habitual offenders under Section 129 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS), while 2,620 individuals faced proceedings under Section 126 BNSS.
Anti-Narcotics Action
The drive focused heavily on narcotics, with 97 NDPS cases registered and 137 accused arrested. Seizures included 7,398 kg of ganja, 586 grams of brown sugar, 220 grams of heroin, and large quantities of cough syrup. Police also confiscated 27 vehicles, 14 mobile phones, three pistols, and cash worth nearly Rs2.93 lakh. In addition, 2,154 excise cases were registered across the state.
Road Safety Enforcement
Road safety enforcement was another priority. Police booked 3,293 drunk drivers, seized their vehicles, and collected fines totaling Rs6.46 crore for various traffic violations.

✨Other Major Seizures
The crackdown extended to cattle smuggling, with 29 cases registered, 13 arrests, and 284 cattle rescued from 17 vehicles. Illegal mining was targeted through 654 cases, 162 arrests, and seizure of 878 vehicles including trucks, tractors, and excavators. In the fight against illegal arms, police registered 31 cases, arrested 35 individuals, and seized 39 firearms and 29 live rounds.
Regional Highlights
Regional highlights included Cuttack Central Range leading
in warrant execution with 1,519 cases, while Koraput Range seized the highest
ganja haul at 3,171 kg. Rourkela Range collected the highest road safety fines,
exceeding Rs1.78 crore.

Police Commitment
DGP Khurania stated that Odisha Police remain committed to public safety and service, and assured that similar special enforcement operations will continue in the future to curb crime and dismantle illegal mafias across the state.
