Bhubaneswar, Oct 6: Aspirants preparing for the Odisha Police Sub-Inspector (SI) recruitment examination may receive a major update next week, with the formal notification for the examination expected to be issued.

The notification will provide details about the examination date and other important information related to the recruitment process.

No Fresh Applications For CPSE-2024
Odisha Sub-Ordinate Staff Selection Commission (OUSSSC) Chairman Rashmi Ranjan Swain said the upcoming examination is essentially a re-test of the Combined Police Service Examination (CPSE-2024).

Candidates who had applied for the examination earlier will not have to complete the application process from the beginning, as their data is already available with the Commission.

“As the previous exam came under probe, it took time to recover the data from the Forensics and validate them. There will be two types of candidates; regular and age-relaxed candidates. Previously, a corrigendum for CPSE-2024 with an age relaxation of three years for all categories was issued. They just have to confirm a few things. No new applications will be entertained,” Swain said.

Candidates will be guided through the process after the notification is issued. The process will involve confirming application-related details, providing the required information and verifying an OTP received on the registered mobile number. Necessary information will also be provided through email.

Measures To Prevent Paper Leak
The OUSSSC is also putting measures in place to prevent a repeat of the paper leak that affected the earlier examination.

“We have to deal with three types of challenges. Firstly, the exam mafia, secondly, dishonest candidates and thirdly, insider sabotage. This time, we have elaborate arrangements in place. Comprehensive, foolproof measures will be taken to nullify the risks,” Swain said.

“I am confident this exam will be sterling clean,” he added.

The examination will cover both graduate-level and undergraduate-level categories.

SI And Other Uniformed Posts
The upcoming recruitment drive includes Sub-Inspector and equivalent uniformed positions along with constable-level posts.

The positions include Sub-Inspector of Police (Civil and Armed), while Station Officer (Fire Service) and Assistant Jailor are also expected to be included under the collective CPSE recruitment.

The total number of vacancies across the CPSE SI-level posts and constable ranks is expected to be 7,664. Though, a detailed notification by OUSSSC is awaited next week.

CPSE-2024 Examination Cancelled
The CPSE-2024 examination process was affected by an alleged paper leak in 2025. The examination was cancelled, and the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) is examining the alleged scam.
