Bhubaneswar, Oct 1: The Odisha Government has regularised the services of Junior Teachers (Schematics) recruited during 2023-24 in primary and upper primary schools, with their regularisation taking effect from January 1, 2026, officials said on Thursday.
The School & Mass Education Department issued a notification on October 1, 2026, revising the effective date of regularisation in supersession of its earlier notification dated April 2, 2026.
According to the notification, Junior Teachers (Schematics)
recruited through due recruitment procedures during 2023-24 and continuing in
service will be regularised as Assistant Teachers in Level-V(A) of the
Elementary Cadre, subject to fulfilment of the prescribed conditions.
The government clarified that the period of service rendered by such teachers from the date of their initial joining until December 31, 2025 will be treated as service rendered in a schematic/contractual capacity. This period will not confer any right to claim regular cadre seniority or consequential regular service benefits.

✨From January 1, 2026, the regularised teachers will be
entitled to regular pay and other admissible service benefits applicable to
Assistant Teachers in Level-V(A), in accordance with government rules and
instructions.

The notification was issued by the School & Mass Education Department by order of the Governor and will be published in an extraordinary issue of the Odisha Gazette.
The move provides clarity on the status and effective date of regularisation of Junior Teachers (Schematics) appointed during the 2023-24 recruitment cycle.
