Cuttack, Jul 8: Odisha Police on Wednesday launched the ‘e-Zero FIR’ system to enable faster registration of cyber financial fraud cases, aiming to ensure swift investigation and timely justice for victims. The initiative was inaugurated by Director General of Police (DGP) Yogesh Bahadur Khurania at the State Police Headquarters, officials said.
The system integrates the National Cyber Helpline 1930 with the Crime and Criminal Tracking Network and Systems (CCTNS), allowing automatic generation of e-Zero FIR requests for fraud complaints involving ₹10 lakh or more. These requests will be routed to the Cyber Police Station under the Crime Branch for preliminary verification.
Officials said the new mechanism will make complaint registration more efficient, improve coordination between agencies, and enhance the chances of recovering defrauded money. Victims will also be able to track the progress of their cases more easily.
Following initial checks, the Cyber Police Station can
register a regular FIR, transfer the case to the relevant police station, link
it with existing cases, or close it if the criteria are not met. The system is
expected to streamline information exchange and reduce delays in investigation.
