Bhubaneswar, Jan 25: The Odisha State Election Commissioner has confirmed that Panchayat elections will be held on schedule once the five-year tenure of the existing bodies comes to an end.


Preparations for the polls have already begun at the subdivision level. In the past 10 days, meetings have been conducted with district collectors to review arrangements and streamline logistics. Detailed instructions have been issued to ensure readiness of polling booths, ballot boxes, and other essential infrastructure required for the smooth conduct of elections.


The Commission emphasized that, with Panchayat elections approaching, no decision has been taken regarding by-elections. The priority remains on ensuring timely and efficient conduct of the Panchayat polls across Odisha.

Officials noted that the preparations are being carried out in a phased manner, beginning at the subdivision level and extending to districts. The focus is on strengthening the electoral machinery to guarantee free, fair, and transparent elections.
