Odisha Launches SIR Campaign with Door-to-Door Voter Verification
BLOs begin door-to-door voter verification in Odisha

Key Points

Odisha has launched a state-wide voter list revision drive with BLOs conducting door-to-door verification until June 28, ensuring every eligible voter is included in the electoral rolls.
New Delhi, May 30: Odisha has commenced the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls from May 30, with Booth Level Officers (BLOs) undertaking a door-to-door verification campaign across the state. The exercise, which will continue until June 28, aims to ensure that every eligible voter is included in the rolls while eliminating discrepancies.

Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) R.S. Gopalan announced that BLOs will visit households in the mornings to distribute enumeration forms, assist residents in filling them, and collect the completed forms. These forms will capture personal details, family particulars, and information linked to the 2002 electoral roll. Minor errors such as discrepancies in age or name will be corrected during field inquiries, while serious issues may require supporting documents.

The CEO emphasized vigilance, directing BLOs to ensure no eligible voter is excluded and no ineligible person is added. The draft electoral roll will be published on July 5, followed by a claims and objections period until August 4. Final rolls are scheduled for release on September 6, 2026.

To facilitate the process, 45,255 BLOs and 33,000 Booth Level Agents have been deployed and trained. BLOs will also remain available at polling booths daily between 3 p.m. and 5 p.m. for direct submissions. Help desks and a dedicated BLO app have been activated to assist voters, while digital-savvy residents can download and upload forms online via the Election Commission’s website.

Gopalan clarified that family members may collect and sign forms on behalf of voters currently away from home. He added that most discrepancies are minor and can be resolved quickly, ensuring a smooth and inclusive revision process.
