Bhubaneswar, Apr 14: Residents of Odisha are unlikely to get relief from the heat till April 19, with the regional centre of India Meteorological Centre issuing a heatwave warning and advising people to remain cautious.

According to the weather office, day temperatures are expected to rise further from Tuesday, with a likely increase of 4 to 6 degrees Celsius over the next few days.

For the next 24 hours, a yellow warning has been issued for hot and humid conditions in 11 coastal districts -- Ganjam, Gajapati, Nayagarh, Khurda, Jagatsinghpur, Kendrapara, Puri, Cuttack, Jajpur, Bhadrak and Balasore.

Additionally, heatwave conditions are likely in Jharsuguda, Sambalpur, Balangir and Kandhamal districts, for which a separate yellow alert has been sounded.

The IMD said both heatwave and humid conditions are expected to prevail simultaneously across several parts of coastal and western Odisha, intensifying discomfort levels.
