Bhubaneswar, Dec 10: Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi has indicated that the state government is actively considering a proposal to expand and modernise the historic Barabati Stadium in Cuttack. The plan, submitted by the Odisha Cricket Association (OCA), aims to enhance the stadium’s seating capacity and facilities, officials said on Wednesday.
Proposal Under Consideration
Speaking to media persons, Majhi said: “Our government has considered this matter. A proposal has been received from the OCA and the people about the expansion and modernisation of the Barabati Stadium. The state government will decide in this regard very soon.”
Historic Venue
Barabati Stadium, one of India’s oldest cricketing venues, currently accommodates 45,000 spectators. Known for its vibrant atmosphere, the stadium has hosted several memorable matches over the decades, cementing its place in Odisha’s sporting heritage.
