Outdoor Activities Suspended, Morning Classes For All Schools As Odisha Reels Under Heat

Key Points

Odisha government introduced morning classes for all schools from 6:30 am to 10:30 am due to prevailing hot weather conditions.
Bhubaneswar, Apr 2: In view of the prevailing hot weather conditions, the Odisha government on Thursday decided to introduce morning classes for all classes in all schools. As per the new guidelines, classes in government, government-aided and private schools will be held from 6:30am to 10:30am.

Guidelines Issued to All District Collectors
The decision was taken to safeguard students from extreme summer heat, with the department issuing instructions to all district collectors to ensure strict implementation.

‘Water Bell’ and ORS Provision in Schools
To prevent dehydration, schools have been directed to introduce a ‘water bell’ to remind students to drink water at regular intervals. Authorities have also been asked to ensure adequate drinking water facilities and arrange ORS based on students’ needs.

No Outdoor Activities Allowed
The government further instructed schools to avoid outdoor activities during this period to minimise exposure to heat and ensure student safety.
