Key Points

IMD issued Yellow Warning for hot and humid conditions in coastal districts including Balasore, Bhadrak, Kendrapara, Jagatsinghpur over next 24 hours.
Bhubaneswar, Apr 2: A mix of intense heat and sudden rain activity is likely to impact Odisha, with the Regional Centre of the India Meteorological Department (IMD) issuing Yellow Warnings for both hot and humid conditions as well as thunderstorms across multiple districts.

Coastal Districts Brace for Oppressive Heat

Hot and humid conditions are very likely to prevail over coastal districts, including Balasore, Bhadrak, Kendrapara and Jagatsinghpur over the next 24 hours, prompting a Yellow Alert. Residents in these areas are expected to experience discomfort due to rising humidity and oppressive heat.

Thunderstorms, Gusty Winds Likely
Meanwhile, districts such as Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Malkangiri, Koraput, Rayagada, Kandhamal, Kalahandi, Nuapada, Balangir, Nabarangpur and Bargarh may witness Kalbaisakhi-induced (Nor’westers) thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and gusty winds with speeds of 30–40 kmph at isolated places.

IMD's Yellow Warning
According to the forecast valid from April 3 to April 5, similar conditions are likely to persist, with thunderstorms expected in parts of Malkangiri, Koraput and Nabarangpur districts alongside continued hot and humid weather in coastal districts such as Balasore, Bhadrak, Kendrapara, and Jagatsinghpur.

Mixed Weather to Persist, Temperature to Dip Slightly Later
While no major change in daytime temperatures is expected over the next three days, a gradual fall of 2–4°C is likely thereafter.

In the past 24 hours, Titilagarh recorded the highest temperature at 39.5°C, while Phulbani reported the lowest at 18.5°C.

Bhubaneswar Likely to See Partly Cloudy Sky
The state capital is expected to witness a partly cloudy sky with chances of rain or thunderstorms over the next 24 hours. The maximum and minimum temperatures are likely to hover around 38°C and 24°C, respectively.
