Bhubaneswar, Mar 3: In view of the escalating war situation in the Middle East, the Odisha government has moved into action, with Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi directing officials to ensure the safety of Odia migrants.
A high‑level meeting will be held on Tuesday evening to review preparedness and coordinate support measures.
The meeting will emphasise close monitoring of Odia citizens living in affected regions.
The Ministry of External Affairs has already issued a 24‑hour toll‑free helpline (800‑46342) and a WhatsApp number (+971543090571) for assistance.
To strengthen outreach, the state has formed a dedicated working group involving the Odisha Paribar Directorate, the Home Department, Labour Directorate, and agencies engaged in migrant welfare. Senior officer Pratish Panda has been appointed as nodal officer to provide information and assistance.
Top officials including Additional Chief Secretary (Home) Hemant Sharma, DGP Y.B. Khurania, Intelligence Director R.P. Koche, Odisha Mo Paribar Director Vijayaketan Upadhyay, and Labour Commissioner Indramani Tripathy attended the meeting.
